Are you Skinny Fat?


Being thin doesn't make you healthy. New research in the journal of Obesity found that women who were a normal weight but had more than 30% body fat had symptoms associated with metabolic syndrome, a group of risk factors that raises the chances of developing heart disease. To determine your body fat, use a scale with BIA, which measures it for you. If you do not have this type of scale we have one at Spinlates that can measure it for you! If your body fat is high, strength-train twice a week to boost your lean muscle mass. In other words spinlates or pilates!

THE RULES: Must submit a “Before” picture and allow Spinlates by HBHM Studios to take measurements of your arms, waistline, hips, and thighs. Measurements will be kept on file and will be used if you consent to the marketing agreement. The option to show or not show your face will be given. The challenge will run for the rest of the month into next month. On the 15th of every Month we will select a winner via an online voting tool. Contestants must check in via Facebook and comment on what session they are on and class they are taking. At the end of the contest your class visits will be on display for others to see the exact routine you followed. You can add any other tips as well.

MONTHLY WINNER: The winner will be selected on actually results of measurements and online voting. The monthly winner will be featured in our newsletter and receive one month of unlimited classes.

The Power of Protien - Get a Stonger, Fitter Physique!


Once your done with your killer workout at Spinlates by HBHM Studios don't forget the refuel with protein! Studies suggest that the idea post training drink or snack should contain about 10-20 grams of protein and about 4 times as much carbs as protein. Apart from milk, other suitable post workout options include fruit yogurt, protein shakes, cereal with milk, or raisins with nuts. The key is to plan ahead. Get into the habit of taking a recovery drink or snack with you to Spinates. That way you begin refueling immediately. Delaying refueling longer than 30 minutes may delay muscle recovery. Following this tip will boost your muscle tone!
